The guide to gifting me things that I will like

~Last updated 14.07.2025~

❤️ Thanks for coming here. It possibly means you intend to gift me something in the foreseeable future, which is very sweet of you :)

However!

I dislike most presents. I don’t mean to be hurtful when I say this, but - being frugal and of very specific taste - most things just do not have much value to me and it tends to make me sad when I receive such items, as it gives me the feeling that you (a person who is possibly close to me) have no idea about the way I think about life, and the concept of gifting. Often times I have to feign excitement when receiving something - this makes me feel untruthful, but I struggle to bring myself to tell people that I dislike their present, since I do not want to hurt their feelings. This in turn makes me dislike most events that involve forced gifting.

Still, people often feel like they have do give me something because they seem to think that it will reflect badly on them to not bring a present.

Here is a thing that I will always enjoy to receive:

  • nothing

Below is a list of things that I absolutely hate to receive:

  • anything that is bigger than 30cm in any dimension that I have not specifically stated to enjoy
  • any book that can be downloaded with low effort from the internet (most novels and mainstream books)
  • body care items except for:
    • Aesop Soaps
    • Old Spice Deo/Shower Gel/Aftershave
    • Tabac Eau de Toilette
    • Oral B Satin Tape
    • Odol Plus
  • clothing (unless it is very cool - but this is very risky)
  • anything that forces me to do an activity more than once(!) that you do not know that I will for sure like

When in a doubt and hurry, you can always resort to one of these things that I will surely enjoy:

  • nothing
  • sweets
  • plant saplings
  • nothing
  • a bag of rice
  • public transport tickets
  • nothing

If you have made it here and still feel like you have to gift me something else (even though I have and will now again tell you that you do not need to), here is a list of things that will genuinely make me very happy. Most (but not all) of the items on this list are either hard to get or quite expensive, so, again, please do not feel obligated to give me anything - I mean it.

Here goes:

If you do not find your present idea matching any of the items on this page, please seriously reconsider buying it for me, as I will most likely not enjoy it :)

Thank you for reading through this and all the best to you! <3
